Virat Kohli and KL Rahul etched a 165-run stand for the fourth wicket to pull out the team from the top-order collapse. Both of them batted for 36 overs and set up a match-winning partnership.

Let’s Not Take The Twos And Conserve Energy- KL Rahul Told Virat Kohli
KL Rahul had kept the stumps during Australia’s batting for almost 50 overs in the 1st innings. Later, he had arrived at the crease too soon. Hence, he was too tired after putting some runs on the board. In a BCCI video, KL Rahul revealed that he told Virat Kohli to avoid twos to converse some energy.
“Tired I won’t lie. I think the only chat after 50-70 runs of the partnership was that let’s not take the twos and conserve the energy,” Rahul told Kohli during the chat.
Kohli, who scored 85 runs in the match, said that they batted in a more conventional way during the match. It helped them to rotate strikes.
“It helped that we played the more conventional way in those tough situations. It obviously helped us to eradicate the errors and help us to rotate the strike as well. We had a good start and the team feels good after a win like that and as KL said, hopefully we can go a long way in this tournament,” Kohli said.
Kohli got out for 85 runs in the match. KL Rahul went on to score an unbeaten 97 runs to drive India to victory by 6 wickets. India has a target of 200 runs in the match. However, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer got out for ducks in the first two overs and it came as a huge blow for batting.
