AUS vs SL: Watch – David Warner Fumes At Umpire After His LBW Dismissal

The 36-year-old Australia National Cricket Team left-handed opening batsman David Warner was left absolutely fuming after getting out LBW in the 14th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Monday, October 16.

David Warner looked awesome with the bat against the Lankan Lions and he also smashed a terrific-looking six. However, his innings was cut short for just 6-ball 11 as he was trapped LBW by the 23-year-old left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka.

On the first ball of the 4th over, Madushanka bowled a back of a length delivery that angled in towards leg-stump. Warner missed the ball and it struck him on the pads. Initially, it looked like the ball would go down the leg side, but the on-field umpire Joel Wilson raised his finger.

David Warner quickly took the DRS and the decision was sent upstairs. On the ball tracking it showed that there was no contact between the bat and ball. Further, the ball was hitting the leg stump and the decision stayed with the on-field umpire.

As the umpire’s call came on the screen, David Warner was left fuming and he shouted something at the umpire Wilson. He was raging as he walked back to the pavilion and he continuously said things as he went back after getting out.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the match. The decision proved a good one for the side as they made the most of the conditions and took the Aussies to the cleaners.

Openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera looked great in the middle and together they played an attacking brand of cricket. Sri Lanka lost their first wicket at the score of 125 and after that came an awful time for the Kusal Mendis-led side as they lost wickets at regular intervals and got bundled out for 209.

For Australia, Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged 4 wickets. He was well supported by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc who picked two wickets each. Also, Glenn Maxwell got one wicket.
