In a major move ahead of IPL 2026, former India bowling coach Bharat Arun is set to take over as the bowling coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Arun, who had been with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2022, has parted ways with the franchise after a successful stint as their bowling consultant.

Having spent four years with the three-time IPL champions, Arun is now set to begin a fresh chapter with LSG in an expanded and more influential role. The RPSG-owned franchise has reportedly signed a two-year deal with Arun, which will see him involved with player development and training throughout the year, not just during the IPL season.

According to sources, the agreement between Arun and LSG was finalised three months ago, with the franchise expected to make an official announcement shortly.

On Tuesday, KKR confirmed that head coach Chandrakant Pandit had stepped down. However, no formal communication was made regarding Arun’s exit from the team.

Arun’s appointment is expected to bring changes to the LSG setup. Former India pacer Zaheer Khan, who was the team mentor during IPL 2025, could see a reshuffle in responsibilities. Head coach Justin Langer is also reportedly under scrutiny following two underwhelming seasons.

Arun’s signing is a high-profile addition for LSG. He is highly regarded for shaping the careers of Indian pacers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj during his tenure with the national side. Before his time at KKR, Arun was associated with Royal Challengers Bengaluru between 2015 and 2017 and served as India’s bowling coach from 2017 to 2021.

In a parallel development, LSG are also reportedly set to rope in Carl Crowe as spin consultant.
