As India are taking on Afghanistan in the second T20I of the three-match series in Indore, Indian opener Shubman Gill has been dropped from the team whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal has witnessed a comeback. India won the first match in Mohali very convincingly by six wickets as Shivam Dube starred in the match by playing an unbeaten knock of 60 runs.
Shubman Gill scored 23 runs from 12 balls in the first T20I match and hit a total of five fours. However, he also engaged in a horrible mixup with captain Rohit Sharma which resulted in his wicket. Sharma played the ball towards the mid-off region and called for a run to Gill. While Shubman was watching the ball, Gill didn’t respond to Rohit’s call and the Indian captain came halfway down the pitch.
While Shubman Gill remained at the non-striker’s end, Rohit Sharma sacrificed his wicket for Gill and was dismissed for a duck. However, Rohit was very furious at Shubman not happy with his gesture on the pitch.
The second T20I match also marks the return of Indian batsman Virat Kohli who is making a comeback in the shortest international format after 14 months. His last appearance for India in T20Is was during the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England.
The second IND vs AFG T20I match is India’s second last match ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. India would aim to win the match and seal the series. This is also the last chance for the Indian team to decide their final 15 for the upcoming T20 World Cup, though, a few players will be tested in the Indian Premier League.
