Hardik Pandya suffered an injury in the first over that he bowled in the game. He came into the attack in the 9th over and after bowling a peach of delivery on the first ball, he conceded two consecutive boundaries. On the third ball, he tried to stop the boundary from Litton Das in his follow-through but slipped in the attempt to save the boundary.

As he fell, he looked in immense pain. The physio ran to the ground and taped Hardik Pandya’s ankle. He tried to be back on his feet but couldn’t bowl and walked off the field. His absence will be a big blow for the team as he has been consistent with the ball in the tournament.

Hardik Pandya’s absence saw Bangladesh taking on an attack on Shardul Thakur. But they pulled things back staggering well with Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja chipping in with wickets. Mohammed Siraj also put his team in front as he removed Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Earlier in the game, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. They were very cautious in the start but once they had their eye on it, they took Indian bowlers to the cleaners. Both Litton Das (66)  and Tanzid Hasan (51) batted magnificently well.

They added 93 runs for the opening partnership, which is the highest for Bangladesh in World Cups. But quickly Bangladesh were on the back foot and were left tottering at 137 for four. The onus will be now on Mushfiqur Rahim and other batters to take the team to a good total.

IND vs BAN: Virat Kohli bowls the remaining three deliveries of Hardik Pandya’s over

After Hardik Pandya went off the field, captain Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Virat Kohli. The crowd erupted in joy as this happened and they were cheating “Kohli Kohli”.

Virat Kohli bowled three deliveries very well. He was right on the target and gave away just 2 runs in the three balls he bowled. It remains to be seen if Rohit Sharma will turn up to him any further in the game or not.
