India National Cricket Team star player Shubman Gill grabbed an absolute dolly to send back the Bangladesh National Cricket Team batsman Towhid Hridoy in the 17th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
Towhid Hridoy was dismissed by pacer Shardul Thakur in the 38th over of the first innings. The Bangladesh batter played a really poor knock in the match and he was back in the hut after scoring just 16 runs off 35 balls.
On the second ball of the 38th over, Thakur bowled a good length ball that was pitched outside off-stump and Hridoy looked to slog it. He only managed to balloon it in the air and offered a simple catch to Shubman Gill on midwicket.
As Gill took the catch to send the Bangladesh batter packing, Sara Tendulkar, who is the daughter of the batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, was seen clapping in the stands. Notably, Sara Tendulkar and Shubhman Gill are rumored to dating each other for a long time. Several times Gill has been teased by spectators on the field with ‘Humari Bhabi Kaisi Ho? Sara Bhabi Jaisi Ho’ chants.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first in the match. They were able to post a decent total of 256/8 on the board as Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim played good innings.

Shubman Gill, in a chat with the official broadcast ahead of the match, said that he needs to stick to his basics.
“It’s very important for me to stick to my basics. Experience has been great, played my first (WC) match against Pakistan, great atmosphere. We have the right momentum with us having won three matches.”
Shubman Gill also showered rich praise on captain Rohit Sharma, saying that he has done well for India for a long period of time. He said:
“We all know he (Rohit Sharma) is an aggressive batsman, has done so well for India, especially in World Cup matches. He is just carrying on with his form, he plays according to his instincts.
“It’s a smaller ground and the wicket has been good. Hopefully we’ll be able to get some good runs for our bowlers to defend. It’s very important to play the middle overs well. If you are able to not too lose too many wickets, then you can really capitalize and have a big score.”
