IND vs ENG: James Anderson To Retire After India Test Series? Pacer Provides Colossal Update

England speedster James Anderson gave a massive update about his retirement plans ahead of the Test series against India. He said that no thought has crossed over his mind and he still feels he has got a lot to offer to the team.

James Anderson is aging like a fine wine. The pacer even in his 40s is running hard yards and is performing consistently for the team. In the era of white-ball cricket, the fast bowler is making every effort to prolong his Test career.

Ever since Stuart Broad announced his Test retirement, there have been a lot of speculations about James Anderson’s retirement as well. Many feel that the pacer will also hang up his boots soon. However, the fast bowler doesn’t have any intentions to do that.

James Anderson has been included in the England team for the five-match Test series against India. Despite being 41, he still remains the main bowler for the team and he no doubt will be crucial for his side in the Indian conditions.

When asked about his retirement plans, James Anderson said that he still has the skills to win games for England. He believes that age is just a number and he doesn’t understand why he should retire because of his age. Speaking to the Telegraph, he explained:

“Sounds brutal but you just have to move on. No thought has crossed my mind about finishing. I’m getting a lot of people coming up to me saying congrats on a great career but I keep having to explain that was Stuart, not me.I still feel like I’ve got a lot to offer this team. I would not still be doing what I’m doing if I didn’t feel like that.

“I still feel like I have got the skills to win England games of cricket so as long as I feel like that, I don’t see why I should finish just because of my age. The training I have done this winter, I feel like age is just a number. Cricket is a game of numbers and people will always look at my age when it comes up on the screen when I come on to bowl but for me it is irrelevant.”

IND vs ENG:  I feel the last 5-6 years have been the best of my career – James Anderson

James Anderson added that he still feels that he can dive around and bowl spells as he did throughout his career. He made a big statement, saying that the last 5-6 overs have been his best.

He added that although he didn’t have a great Ashes 2023, he has put in enough hard work to make sure that he doesn’t have a lean series again. He added:

“It is how you feel as a cricketer and I know I can still dive around in the field and put a shift in with the ball just like I have done for the last 20 years. I feel the last 5-6 years have been the best of my career.

“Although the Ashes did not go as well as I wanted it to, there have been many series when I have not bowled well throughout my career and it is just a case of putting in the hard work to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

The Test series between India and England will be played from 25th January. It remains to be seen if James Anderson plays all five games or not.
