Team India led by Rohit Sharma suffered a one-sided an innings and 32-run defeat against South Africa in the first Test of the two-match series played in Centurion. The Indian batters were not able to play the lethal fast bowling of the South African team and were bundled for 131 runs while batting in the second innings.
South African pacers Kagiso Rabada, Nandre Burger, and Marco Jansen wrote the script of Proteas’ win in the first Test against India. Indian batsman Rohit Sharma fell to Rabada in the second innings with a beauty whereas Jansen removed Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer as they played down the wrong line.
Now, with the second Test all set to be played in Cape Town, the Indian team will want to end the series with a win and avoid the whitewash. As the first Test match finished two days before, the Indian team is currently in Centurion and practicing hard in the nets.
A video of the Indian captain Rohit Sharma practicing in the Centurion nets went viral on social media. Rohit can be seen hitting some solid shots while practicing for the second Test.
Rohit Sharma didn’t do much in the first Test and was just able to score five runs in the whole match. It was Kagiso Rabada who got him out in both the innings.
Rohit Sharma fell to Kagiso Rabada on one of his favourite shots in the first innings whereas he got completely beaten by a beauty from the ace South African pacer.

The Indian team has lost in Cape Town on both occasions when they toured the country the last two times and now they want to break the jinx on January 3.
The second Test match between India and South Africa is also very important for the Indian team from the perspective of the World Test Championship. The Indian team slipped to the sixth spot in the WTC 2023-25 standings and it may become difficult for them if they lose the second Test against the Proteas.
Another major problem that the Indian team shall address is to get used to the South African conditions. The Indian team didn’t play any practice matches ahead of the series which might be a reason they could not play the South African pacers properly in the first Test.
India is yet to win a Test series in South Africa for the past 31 years and they have been touring the country from the year 1992. India came close to winning the Test series on the South African lands in 2021 but after winning the first Test India lost in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
India’s dream of winning their first Test series in South Africa might have broken but they will want to end the tour with a win. The Indian pacers who were the strength of the team needed to take up more responsibility in the second match if the Indian team wants to win in Cape Town.
With the return of Ravindra Jadeja, India’s hopes of winning at the Sahara Park Newlands might get some boost.
