Yuzvendra Chahal failed to make it to India’s 15-member squad for the marquee tournament at home. The right-arm leg spinner didn’t get the opportunity, even after Axar Patel was ruled out due to injury. Ravichandran Ashwin was selected ahead of him for the World Cup.

During the India-Sri Lanka match in Mumbai, Yuzvendra Chahal was spotted in the stands, sitting next to Ravichand Ashwin’s wife, Prithi Narayanan. Chahal’s presence in the stadium surprised cricket fans. The ICC shared a clip of his presence on its Instagram handle.
“A familiar face spotted in the crowd,” wrote the caption.
India is taking on Sri Lanka in the league stage match at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, November 2. The Rohit Sharma-led team is the only undefeated team in the tournament, having secured six wins. They will advance to the semi-finals with one more victory.
It’s Been Three World Cups – Yuzvendra Chahal
Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal shared his feelings about not being part of the 2023 World Cup squad. He stated that only fifteen players could be selected for such a prestigious tournament and mentioned that it was his third World Cup miss.
“I understand that only fifteen players can be a part, because it’s a World Cup, where you can’t take 17 or 18. I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I’m used to it now… it’s been three World Cups (laughs),” Chahal told Wisden.com.
The 33-year-old represented India in 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is, picking up 121 wickets and 96 wickets, respectively. He was part of India’s team in the last ODI World Cup in England. He wasn’t part of India’s team in the last two editions of the T20 World Cups.
