The Indian women’s cricket team players suffered a six-wicket loss in the first ODI against Australia and were asked to bowl first in the second match by the Aussies.

The Indian team didn’t start off well in the match as they dropped three back-to-back catches of the Australian players. While the Indian bowlers were able to grab a couple of Australian wickets, something worse happened during the 25th over of the first innings.

Shreyanka Patil who was playing her first ODI match, was hit for six runs off the first four balls of the over whereas on the fifth ball, while Beth Mooney tried to play a cut short on the short ball, saw the collision of Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana.

Things baddened for the Indian women’s team as a stretcher was brought for Sneh Rana to take her back to the dressing room. However, Rana was able to walk off the field with the help of the physio.

After 5 overs the incident happened, Sneh Rana returned to the field and it was Renuka Singh who took the ball on her behalf.

Getting to the key highlights of the match, the visitors were able to score 258/8 in their first innings courtesy of a 63-run knock from opener Phoebe Litchfield. Ellyse Perry also contributed with a 50 run knock.

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma was the star of the Indian bowling attack as she picked up a fifer whereas Sneh Rana also finished her quota of 10 overs and picked up a wicket after giving 59 runs.

The Indian women’s cricket team has the best chance to chase down the given target and level the series 1-1. However, the Aussies might once again come out hard at the hosts and want to win the second ODI match to steal the series.
