During the second innings of the India Women vs Australia Women first ODI, Indian fielder Sneh Rana took a sensational diving catch to get rid of Australian captain Alyssa Healy. India-W put up a score of 282/8 while batting first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
After India’s decent batting display, just like always Renuka Singh, who has the knack of picking up early wickets dismissed Alyssa Healy for a duck on the third ball of the Australian innings. Trying to drive the ball, it took the edge of Healy’s bat and went straight to Sneh Rana, who took a blinder diving to her left.
The Indian women’s team is coming into the match after a brilliant eight-wicket win in the only Test against Australia. Batting first courtesy of Jemimah Rodrigues’ 82-run knock, India put up a decent first-innings score. Rodrigues hit a total of seven fours throughout her innings whereas opener Yastika Bhatia also chipped in with a knock of 49 runs.

Pooja Vastrakar gave the finishing touch to the Indian innings and scored 62 runs in 46 balls. Her innings included seven fours and two sixes. Shafali Varma and Harmanpreet Kaur were not able to contribute with the bat and got out after scoring 1 and 9 runs respectively.
Australia used a total of seven bowlers and apart from Tahlia McGrath, every bowler had a wicket in their column. Ashleigh Gardner and Georgia Wareham picked up two wickets each whereas, Darcie Brown, Annabel Sutherland, Megan Schutt, and Alana King picked up one wicket a piece.
After the early departure of Australian captain Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield put up a 148-run stand for the second wicket and brought Australia back into the match. Perry at one end scored 75 runs, and Litchfield got out for 78 runs.
Apart from Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield, it was Tahlia McGrath who gave the finishing touches to the Australian chase and played an innings of 68 runs off 55 balls. McGrath added 88 runs with Beth Mooney for the fourth wicket. Mooney got out for 42 runs.
At last, the target didn’t prove big enough for Australia and they won the match by 6 wickets. Phoebe Litchfield was adjudged the Player of the Match for her 78-run knock.
The next match of the ODI series will be played on December 30 at the Wankhede Stadium and the hosts will want to make a comeback.
The Indian team also lost to England when they played a three-match T20I series last month. England defeated India by 2-1.
The Indian women’s team has developed a lot in the past few years and is recognized as one of the top teams in world cricket. However, the Indian team is yet to win an ICC title despite reaching the knockouts on several occasions.
