South Africa opener Laura Wolvaardt has been appointed as permanent captain of the women’s team after taking the role on a temporary basis earlier this year. Laura Wolvaardt will lead across three formats, with the first assignment against Bangladesh in December.
Wolvaardt had a successful stint as interim captain during recent tours against Pakistan and New Zealand. The 24-year-old batter led the South Africa women’s team to consecutive 2-1 ODI series victories. She also made significant contributions with the bat during the series.

Cricket South Africa officially named Laura Wolvaardt as the captain of the Proteas Women’s team for all three formats. The announcement was made on Friday, and Laura is set to lead the 15-player T20I squad against Bangladesh from December 3 to 23.

The newly appointed Proteas Women’s team captain hass played in 86 one-day internationals (ODIs) and 59 T20Is. She has amassed 3,421 runs in the 50-over format, with 30 fifties and four hundreds. In T20Is, she has scored 1,313 runs at an average of 32.82 with nine fifties.
Laura Wolvaardt Named Captain For Bangladesh Series
The selectors named a 15-member squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh. Wolvaardt will lead a squad that combines experienced players with young talents, including Ayanda Hlubi and Eliz-Mari Marx, who received their maiden international call-ups in T20Is.
Ayabonga Khaka, Chloè Tryon, and Nadine de Klerk are unavailable for the T20I series due to injuries. Fast bowler Ayabonga Khaka is recovering from a knee injury, while all-rounders Chloè and Nadine are dealing with a groin injury and a side strain, respectively.
