NZ vs PAK: Shadab Khan Likely To Be Available For Pakistan’s Last Group Match Against England, Confirms PCB

 

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given an update on all-rounder Shadab Khan’s availability for the upcoming match in the ICC World Cup 2023. Shadab Khan is expected to be available for selection for the team’s final group-stage match in the ongoing World Cup.

Shadab Khan suffered an injury in a match against South Africa when he landed awkwardly on his shoulder. He couldn’t continue in the match due to a head injury. Usama Mir replaced him as a concussion substitute, marking the first such substitution in World Cup history.

Shadab Khan Did Light Training Yesterday – The PCB

In an official statement, the PCB mentioned that Shadab Khan had engaged in light training, but some lingering symptoms kept him out of the match against New Zealand. The board stated that Shadab is on track to achieve his full fitness before the next match.

“He [Shadab] did light training yesterday however there were still some symptoms ruling him out of this match [against New Zealand]. He is likely to be available for Pakistan’s last group match against England in Kolkata,” PCB reported in a brief statement.

Usama Mir performed well during the match against South Africa, taking the important wickets of Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram. However, the Pakistan team failed to finish the line as Keshava Maharaj scored winning runs off Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling.

Pakistan Set To Take England On November 11

The Babar Azam-led team is on the verge of elimination from the ongoing marquee tournament. They managed to secure just three victories out of the seven matches they played so far in the tournament. They are in sixth place in the table with 6 points on their tally.

The Pakistan team is currently taking on the New Zealand team, which is a must-win game for them. The 1992 winners will be eliminated from the tournament if they fail to beat the Black Caps in the game. They can keep them alive with a victory in Bengaluru.
