Tabraiz Shamsi’s non-availability
In a contrasting move, South Africa opted to leave out Tabraiz Shamsi, their star spinner who clinched the Player of the Match award in their previous game against Pakistan. This decision was influenced by the playing conditions in Pune, which are traditionally less conducive to spin bowling. Instead, South Africa brought back their pace spearhead, Kagiso Rabada, to bolster their bowling attack
” We were looking to bowl first as well. Pitch looks a bit dry, could skid on later under lights. Kagiso Rabada comes in for Shamsi,” Temba Bavuma said during the toss.
