Pakistan out of ODI World Cup 2023; here are the four semi-finalists

 

The lineup for the semi-finals in the ODI World Cup 2023 has come into focus. Notably, the 44th match at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata featured England and Pakistan in a crucial encounter.

While England were already out of the semi-final contention, Pakistan’s chances hinged on accomplishing a nearly impossible task – improving their net run rate to surpass New Zealand. However, Pakistan faced a 93-run defeat against England and officially got knocked out of the tournament.

The four semi-finalists

India

India emerges as the standout team in the ODI World Cup 2023, being the only unbeaten side in the competition. Securing their place in the semi-finals, the Men in Blue have displayed exceptional cricketing prowess, winning all eight of their matches and comfortably topping the points table. Their final group stage match against the Netherlands is scheduled for November 12.

South Africa

South Africa, with seven wins out of nine games, secured their spot as the second team in the semi-final lineup. Having completed all their league fixtures, South Africa looks forward to the knockout stage, aiming to continue their impressive run in the tournament.

Australia

Australia, known for their cricketing prowess, emerged as the third team to qualify for the semi-finals. Winning seven out of their nine matches, the Aussies are geared up for the knockout stage, eyeing another ODI World Cup title.

New Zealand

Following Pakistan’s elimination, New Zealand claimed the last spot in the semi-finals. Despite a few hiccups in the group stage, the Kiwis are now focused on the semi-final challenge.
