Ahead of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the schedule of the tournament on January 12. The ninth edition of the PSL will start from February 17, 2024, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will lock horns in the inaugural match of the tournament. The final will be played on February 17, 2024.
The Pakistan Super League consists of six teams which include, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators. The matches of the tournament will be played across four cities which consist of Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
Throughout the whole tournament, a total of 34 matches will be played wherein Karachi will host most 11 games, which includes the qualifier, two eliminators, and one final.
Out of the eight editions, Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars have won two titles whereas, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators have won one title each. Peshawar Zalmi are yet to win the PSL trophy. Veteran Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 113 wickets whereas Babar Azam has scored the most 2935 runs in the competition.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf, while announcing the schedule of the tournament stated that it will be played across 4 cities in the country which is a testament to taking the league to the fans of the country. Ashraf added that hosting matches in these cities will take the cricket to the grassroots level fans.

The decision to host the marquee event across these cities is a testament to our commitment to bring top-notch cricket to fans across the country. We believe that hosting matches in these venues not only adds to the excitement for fans but also promotes cricket at the grassroots level.”

Before the announcement of the schedule of the tournament, the PSL received a 113 and 45 percent rise in the TV and streaming rights of the competition. Local TV channel A Sports was able to acquire the TV rights whereas Walee Technologies were able to get the digital rights.
