Ravichandran Ashwin Makes A Late Entry In India’s Playing 11 As Mohammed Siraj Gets Left Out For World Cup Final

The Indian team is all set to face Australia in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Team India is out on the field in Ahmedabad to assess the conditions. There are speculations that the pitch would have some assistance for the spinners. If there is something on the pitch for spinners, India might see Ravichandran Ashwin finding a place in the Playing XI.

India’s head coach Rahul Dravid alongside a few players was seen assessing the conditions of the pitch and during that, he tapped on Ashwin’s back asking him to observe the pitch. It might be a signal that Ravichandran Ashwin can play in the World Cup finals against Australia.

Ravichandran Ashwin has played just one match in this World Cup which was against Australia in the league stage. He had a terrific run in the three-match ODI series against Australia right before the commencement of the World Cup. Ashwin replaced injured Axar Patel in the World Cup squad but struggled to find a place in the playing XI.

Ravichandran Ashwin To Play In The Finals?

Rahul Dravid asking Ashwin to observe the pitch is a massive hint that there might be a change in the playing XI of an undefeated Indian team. Given the number of left-handed batters in the Australian squad, Ashwin might be India’s ace of spades in the finals if he finds himself in the team’s Playing XI. He has a terrific record against Australia and his experience is highly valuable in the summit clash.

If Ravichandran Ashwin gets a place in the squad then there is a probability that either Suryakumar Yadav or Mohammed Siraj will have to make way for him. However, it is a possibility that Ashwin may be excluded from the Playing XI again given the winning combination of the team. Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling on the sides with Prasidh Krishna after assessing the pitch.

India is facing Australia for the second time in a World Cup final. The first time these two cricketing giants faced off each other was back in the 2003 World Cup final. India will be looking to avenge that defeat and clinch their third World Cup title.
