The T20 World Cup 2024 clash between England and Scotland on Tuesday (June 4) witnessed a delayed start due to rain. But when the action finally commenced, the Scottish openers, George Munsey and Michael Jones, wasted no time in making their presence felt.

Scotland’s hot start against England

Undeterred by the earlier delay, the Scottish batting duo adopted an aggressive approach from the get-go. They tore into the England bowling attack, amassing an impressive 49 runs during the crucial Powerplay overs. Their strokeplay was a delight to watch, with one particular shot by Jones leaving everyone awestruck. Jones emerged as the star of the show during the Powerplay. In the final over of this phase, he faced Chris Jordan and unleashed a brutal six that caused a serious damage.

Michael Jones’ humongous six breaks solar panel

Spotting a shortish delivery on the off-side, Jones displayed exceptional timing and power to launch the ball high and clear over deep mid-wicket for a colossal six. The brutality of the shot was evident as the ball nearly left the ground altogether, causing a dramatic consequence – it hit and cracked one of the solar panels situated atop the stands at the Dallas Stadium.

Jones’ monstrous six  became a talking point of the match. Unfortunately, Scotland’s batting momentum was halted by another rain shower just as the next over began. The players were forced to leave the field, leaving everyone eager to see if they could continue their dominant display upon the resumption of play.
