USA Cricket announces that Sindhu Sriharsha has officially retired from international cricket. Sriharsha made her debut for the USA Women’s National Team in 2015, playing in two T20 matches against Pakistan, and her final game against Zimbabwe in October 2024 ended a 9-year career playing for the USA.
In 2017, Sriharsha was appointed captain of the women’s national team during the transitionary period before USA Cricket was established in 2018 and recognized as the 105th member of the ICC, in 2019.
Over the course of her career as captain, Sriharsha led the USA Women to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup Americas Region Qualifiers in 2019, 2021 and 2023, resulting in participation in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Scotland in 2019, Abu Dhabi in 2022 and 2024.
Known for her resilience and strategic insights, Sriharsha’s notable achievements include an unbeaten 74-run knock against Bangladesh in the 2022 ICC T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi. Sriharsha played 32 T20Is and 7 ODIs since USA gained T20I status in 2019 and ODI status in 2022.
With a career-530 runs in 32 T20Is, including three half-centuries and 23 dismissals as a wicketkeeper, she leaves an indelible impact on the team.
As Sriharsha reflects on her journey, she acknowledges the unwavering support system that has been instrumental in her success.
“I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family, who have stood by me through thick and thin, supporting me in balancing two careers. To the coaches who have shaped me into the person I am today and continue to be lifelong mentors—thank you for your lasting impact. To my teammates over the past decade, with whom I share incredible memories and from whom I have learned and grown alongside, I am deeply grateful, Sriharsha said.
“Lastly, I want to acknowledge the broader USA cricket community. Your support has kept me grounded and motivated to keep the spark alive over the years. I look forward to staying connected and continuing to contribute to the cricketing journey in the USA.”
As she bids farewell to international cricket, Sriharsha takes a moment to express her appreciation for the opportunities and support she received throughout her career.
“I am incredibly grateful to USA Cricket for the opportunity to lead and represent the national team. It has been an absolute privilege to contribute to the growth of women’s cricket in the United States,” Sriharsha added.
USA Cricket CEO, Johnathan Atkeison, said, “Sindhu has been a true leader and an integral part of USA Cricket’s journey over the years. Her dedication, skill, and leadership have helped shape the women’s national team and inspire the next generation of cricketers in the country. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and look forward to seeing the impact she continues to have on the sport beyond her playing career.”
Board Member and Chair of the Women’s Cricket Committee, Nadia Gruny said, “Sharing six of the nine years of a playing career with Sindhu embodies a story of challenges, dedication, perseverance, sacrifice and great memories. Numbers will never reflect the hard work and true input, but the collective efforts of Sindhu and many past players have created that critical steppingstone to the growing success of the women’s team. Thank you, Sindhu, for all you have given to the team! I trust that you have retired but not resigned as I look forward to you availing yourself to the continued development of the sport.”
USA Cricket extends its heartfelt gratitude for her contributions and dedication and wishes her success in all future endeavors.
