USA Cricket Announces U19 Women’s Tour to the West Indies to Start 2027 World Cup Preparation

July 17, 2025

USA Cricket is pleased to announce the upcoming tour of its U19 Women’s National Team to Trinidad and Tobago, where they will face Cricket West Indies (CWI) U19 Women in a five-match T20 International series. The tour will run from July 22 to August 4 at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Ground, St. Augustine.

This series marks the third bilateral T20 series between USA and West Indies U19 Women’s teams in four years, following successful encounters in 2022 (hosted by USA) and 2024, underscoring a strong and growing partnership between the two boards to advance women’s cricket in the region.

The tour forms an integral part of early preparations for the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup in 2027, offering valuable international exposure to a new generation of US cricketers. With many players having aged out of the U19 category, the current squad represents a fresh phase of development, anchored by senior players Chetna Reddy Pagydyala, Pooja Ganesh, Maahi Madhavan, Taranum Chopra and Saanvi Immadi, who bring leadership and international experience.

The 14-player squad was selected based on standout performances at the recently concluded USA Cricket U19 Women’s National Championship in Albany, NY. In addition, two U15 players from the women’s domestic pathway and circuit have been included on the tour for developmental experience, reflecting USA Cricket’s long-term vision to build a strong talent pipeline.

“This tour is not only a testament to the deepening partnership between USA Cricket and Cricket West Indies but also a pivotal step in our long-term preparations for the 2027 ICC U19 Women’s World Cup,” said USA Cricket CEO Johnathan Atkeison. “We are excited to expose our emerging talent to international competition early in their careers, and we’re confident this experience will accelerate their development. We thank Cricket West Indies for their continued collaboration and commitment to growing women’s cricket across the Americas.”

Cricket West Indies CEO Chris Dehring said, “We are proud to welcome the USA Under-19 Women’s team and look forward to an exciting series that we hope will inspire even more young girls across the region to take up the sport. This bilateral series reflects CWI’s strategic commitment to expanding competitive opportunities for young female cricketers, while also building meaningful partnerships to drive the growth of the game across the Americas.”

He further stated that, “As part of this vision, we will be extending similar opportunities to other associate member countries in the hemisphere—an approach that can only strengthen cricket development throughout the region. As leaders in regional cricket, we understand the importance of forging strong partnerships with our neighbors and giving our rising stars the international exposure and experience they need to thrive.”

The squad, featuring a balance of experience and promising newcomers, symbolizes USA Cricket’s strategic investment in player development and competitive readiness. For many players, this will be their first time representing the United States on the international stage.

USA Cricket extends its sincere appreciation to Cricket West Indies for their ongoing support and partnership since 2022, which has been instrumental in expanding competitive opportunities for women’s youth cricket in the region.
