USA Cricket announced today that its membership has approved a series of constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening the organization’s governance framework, enhancing athlete representation, and aligning with the requirements of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
The amendments, ratified during the voting period from May 28 to June 3, 2025 and certified by an external auditor, mark a significant milestone in USA Cricket’s ongoing commitment to coming into compliance with United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee governance standards and requirements.
Key amendments include:
To amend the language in Section 7.4.A.i to specifically denote two USA Cricket Athlete Directors as the Team USA Athlete’s Commission Primary and Alternate representatives.
Passed with 70.8% approval
To revise the language in Section 7.5.A to specify that of the two USA Cricket Athlete Directors, who are not the Team USA Athlete’s Commission Primary and Alternate Representatives, one (1) shall be female and one (1) shall be male.
Passed with 68.5% approval
To delete Section 7.6.A and move its contents to Appendix A of the USA Cricket Constitution, while also removing the specific Director names.
Passed with 69.29% approval
To revise Section 7.6.B to remove gender based language and align with the changes to Section 7.4.A.i
Passed with 69.88% approval
“By aligning our governance with international best practices and USOPC requirements, we are laying the foundation for a stronger and more inclusive future for cricket in the United States,” said Venu Pisike, Chair of USA Cricket. “The changes were necessary in order for us to begin the process of seating the inaugural USA Cricket Athlete’s Advisory Council in compliance with USOPC requirements, and for the election of our four Athlete Directors to the USA Cricket Board. We thank the membership for participating, and for approving these crucial measures.”
With the constitutional revisions now in effect, USA Cricket will proceed with the election process for Athlete Directors to the USA Cricket Board and additional members of the inaugural USA Cricket Athlete’s Advisory Council in June.
These developments underscore USA Cricket’s dedication to fostering a governance structure that supports the sport’s growth and ensures that athletes have a meaningful voice in decision-making processes.
