Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has stolen the limelight in the ongoing Day 3 of the third Test against England. The third match of the five-match Test series between the teams is taking place at the newly renamed Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has yet again carried the Indian batting lineup in the ongoing Test series. It’s fair to say that he has been by far the best Indian batter in the series. The kind of consistency that he has shown sets him apart from the other batters from both teams.
In the ongoing match, after failing in the first Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal made sure that he made up for his low score in the second innings. The opening batter took some time to get going but the second phase of his innings was nothing short of exceptional.
It was a terrific acceleration from Yashasvi Jaiswal as he took England,, bowlers to the cleaners and smashed bowlers all over the park. The opening batter thoroughly entertained the crowd with his innings as he made the opposition taste their own medicine.
However, not only the crowd, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings made even India’s coaching staff. The batter brought smiles to the faces of head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour with his unorthodox shot.
It was during the third and fifth ball of the 33rd over when Rehan Ahmed bowled a flatter delivery on the middle stump. Yashasvi Jaiswal switched up his feet and reverse-pulled the deliveries over backward point. The ball raced away to the boundary and the reaction of Rahul Dravid caught the attention of many.
Rahul Dravid was seen smiling along with Vikram Rathour as they couldn’t believe what kind of shot Yashasvi Jaiswal played. Yashasvi Jaiswal played magnificent innings and slammed his second ton of the series. The batter didn’t look back once he slammed his half-century. The batter took the attack to the England bowlers and brought up his third Test ton in a short career so far.
Yashasvi Jaiswal played with full control but couldn’t continue to bat as he got retired hurt. He walked off at 104 runs off 133 balls and also slammed 9 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. His knock helped India take a lead of 322 runs.
He is expected to bat on Day 4 of the game. The batter would be keen to make a mark when he comes to bat Tomorrow and double up his tally to put the team in a dominant position.
During his innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal also joined Virat Kohli in the unique feat. He became the first Indian batter since Virat Kohli to smash over 400 runs in an India vs England Test series. The senior batter had scored 593 runs during the 2018 Test series against England.
