Fans on X reacted after Australian batter Marcus Stoinis was controversially given out in the ongoing match 10 of the ICC World Cup 2023. The game is taking place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow and the Proteas have asserted their authority with some high-class bowling.
Apart from high-quality batting and bowling performance from South Africa, the game was marred by controversial decisions as well. It happened during the second innings of the game and the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was a victim.
During the 18th over, Kagiso Rabada bowled a back-of-a-length delivery sliding down the leg. Marcus Stoinis tried to glance it and the ball took a feather of glove through to the keeper. But his backhand was off the handle and that’s where the ball struck his glove.
The umpire initially gave it not out but the South Africa went upstairs. After taking a while, the third umpire termed it out and surprised many. Later the square leg angle suggested that the bottom hand was actually away from the top one. The all-rounder was not out and it was unfortunate for Australia.
Marcus Stoinis scored 5 runs off 4 balls. He would be fuming with the way he got out. Things overall with the bat are not going in favor of Australia. Some decisions along with high-quality bowling have put them on the back foot. Their chances to win are second to none until some batter plays a miraculous knock. Marnus Labuschagne has batted well and has held the fort for his side.
