Rashid Khan played a handy cameo of 23 in 22 balls as Afghanistan finished on 284 in their match against England at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. England now need 285 runs to bag their second win in three games.
Afghanistan were well placed at 114 for no loss when the side lost Ibrahim Zadran. After a mini-collapse in the middle-order Ikram Alikhil scored a crucial 58 off 66 balls to keep the Afghanistan innings moving.
In the process, he formed key partnerships with Rashid Khan first and then Mujeeb Ur Rahman (28). Alikhil added 43 runs with Rashid and then 40 runs with Mujeeb to take the Afghans past 280. They were finally bowled out in the 50th over of their innings for 284.
Meanwhile, Rashid was greeted with a rousing reception at the Kotla when he walked out to bat. He is very much the face of Afghanistan cricket having played across T20 leagues all across the globe. Rashid is one of the most loved cricketers in India and his association with the IPL has been very memorable.

Thus not surprisingly, he was given a warm welcome when he walked out to bat. The crowd started chanting Rashid Khan’s name the moment he walked out to bat. He entertained the crowd with his unorthodox strokeplay, and added crucial runs with Alikhil.
Afghanistan have not won matches in World Cups since the last edition of the tournament. They lost all their nine games in the last edition and have lost against Bangladesh and India to start their campaign. They have got runs on the board to challenge England who have already lost a game in this World Cup.
England have won both their games against Afghanistan in World Cups so far and need to bat well to win this one at the Kotla.
