Former Indian captain Virat Kohli played his part in India’s win over Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023 match in Ahmedabad. India won the match by seven wickets and in the process topped the points table with an NRR of +1.821.
Pakistan collapsed from 155/2 to 191 all out in the big match. They lost their last eight wickets for 36 runs as the batting lineup capitulated after a good 82-run partnership between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
Kohli scored 16 off 18 balls and added a 56-run stand after the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket with the team score on 23. Rohit was going great guns at the other end as he blasted 86 off 63 deliveries. It was a comprehensive performance from the Indian team with the players playing their role to perfection.
After the win, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were seen meeting the wives of Indian cricketers. He and Anushka met Ritika Sajdeh, Pritihi Ashwin, and Rivaba Jadeja, the wives of Rohit Ashwin and Ravindra Jaje. He was seen exchanging pleasantries with them as well. After the win, Rohit Sharma at the post-match presentation spoke about India’s convincing win over Pakistan.

“The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190-pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball” said Rohit.
He further spoke about his role as a captain and the team’s role as well going forward in the tournament.
“My job as a captain is important there as well. It’s to read the conditions and figure out who’s the right guy to do the job. It’s only because the guys – before entering the WC – they got a lot of runs. We were very clear about what we wanted to do. Didn’t want to be in two minds about who’s going to bat where. All in all, it’s looking good. Want to keep my fingers crossed” Rohit concluded saying.
India plays Bangladesh next on October 19 in Pune while Paksitan plays Australia on October 20 in Bengaluru.
