The IND vs ENG Test series continues with the fourth Test in Ranchi to be played from February 23-27. India is leading the series 2-1 after winning the second and the third Tests. England won the first to kick off the campaign.
England won the first test by 28 runs. India bounced back by winning the second test by 106 runs. They won the third Test in Rajkot by a mammoth 434 runs which is one of their biggest wins in Test cricket by margin of runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored back-to-back double-hundreds but could not win the Man of the Match unfortunately. Jasprit Bumrah won the Man of the Match in the third Test while Ravindra Jadeja on his return, bagged the honours in the fourth.
Heading into the fourth Test, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the game in Ranchi and he has not traveled with the team as per reports. KL Rahul is ruled out of the fourth Test as well as he has not recovered fully from his quadricep injury. Mukesh Kumar who was released ahead of the third Test has joined the Indian team for the fourth and is likely to pair up with Mohammed Siraj.
The batting lineup pretty much will remain the same. Rajat Patidar thus is expected to get another chance in Rahul’s absence. Tactically, Washington Sundar or Axar Patel can be a good addition as both are decent batters and provide an additional bowling option as well.
Speaking about England, the big defeat has posed several problems for the team. They are languishing eighth on the WTC points table with a PCT of 21.88. Skipper Ben Stokes shared his concerns after the game about the umpire’s call to be abolished after several referrals went against the visitors.

Speaking about the team, Jack Leach continues to remain absent as he is ruled out from the Test series. England have two specialist spinners, Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir.
Bashir who was rested in the third Test is expected to make a return in the fourth given Ranchi is expected to have a turning wicket. Joe Root will be the third spinner. Whether England opts for one or two pacers in the attack will be an interesting observation.
