Mumbai Indians have brutally trolled Ramiz Raja while celebrating the one-year anniversary of Virat Kohli‘s iconic knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup last year.
India and Pakistan had locked horns against each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the group stage clash. Pakistan were looking set to register their second win in a row over India in the T20 World Cup. Chasing 160, India were reeling at 31 for 4 before Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya steadied the ship with a century-plus stand.
India needed 48 runs from the last three overs and it looked almost impossible against an attack comprising the likes of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. However, Virat Kohli was not ready to give up. The batting superstar came up with a scintillating effort to power India to a famous win.
In the 18th over, he hit Afridi to three fours. He then finished the 19th over by smashing Rauf’s last two deliveries for two majestic sixes. In the final too over too, he hit spinner Mohammad Nawaz for one more six. India crossed the finishing line on the very last ball.
Mumbai Indians troll Ramiz Raja:
While celebrating the one-year anniversary of the monumental win over Pakistan and Virat Kohli’s breathtaking knock, Mumbai Indians decided to take a dig at Ramiz Raja. They shared an old comment of the former Pakistan cricketer in their post on X (formerly Twitter).
After Kohli smashed Rauf for a six straight over his head, an old comment from Ramiz Raja went viral. In the video, he could be seen saying that he had advised Rauf not to worry about getting hit straight over his head due to his extreme pace.
“Haris Rauf se mai jab bhi baat karta hoon ki aap 150 ki speed se ball karte hain, apko variation ki jarurat nahi hai. Apke paas sheer pace hai. Uske upar he aap rakh de koi maai ka laal seedhi hit nahi laga skta apko,” Raza had said:
(Roughly translates to, “Whenever I talk to Haris Rauf, I tell him that your ball at a speed of 150 kmph, you don’t need variations. You have a sheer pacer and even if you bowl full-length bowl, no one can hit you for a straight six.”)
