Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made a big revelation about India’s game against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023. He admitted that the team was under pressure and they would’ve been 40/3 had skipper Rohit Sharma not attacked Matt Henry.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been one of the main reasons behind the team’s dominating run in the ICC World Cup 2023. The opening batter has unleashed his beast mode in the tournament and has given blistering starts to the team in almost every game.
Rohit Sharma has attacked the opposition in the powerplay and has taken all the pressure off the middle batters, allowing them to take their time and score freely. The batter irrespective of the conditions has played a fearless brand of cricket.
During an interaction with Prasanna, Ravichandran Ashwin was asked about the game against New Zealand. He was asked: “When Big Daddy(Rohit) Played that Shot Against Henry match was finished there.”
Replying to this Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out how Shubman Gill was struggling against Matt Henry. He admitted that had Rohit Sharma not shown intent they would’ve come under tremendous pressure. He lauded the captain, saying that he killed the game in powerplay. He explained:
“Gill was Struggling Against Matt henry But that 3 Shots of Rohit Sharma had put pressure on Matt Henry, If Rohit Didn’t shown that Intent We would Have Been 40-3 in that match, because we were Scared when he was bowling like that To gill. Rohit Really kills the game in Powerplay.”
