‘India didn’t have answers to England’s questions’ – Dinesh Karthik slams Rohit Sharma & Co.

Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman turned expert analyst Dinesh Karthik while speaking to Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz’s post-match analysis of the 1st Test between India and England, hailed and reasoned the tremendous mindset of the visitors as the driving force behind their 28-run win in Hyderabad which helped them gain a 1-0 lead.

Dinesh Karthik was there at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium for the 1st Test and was among the high-profile commentary panelists of Jio Cinema along with the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Ravi Shastri, and Sunil Gavaskar among others. He observed everything that unfolded in the 4 days right from day 1 and gave his honest and blunt take on India’s loss.

In a video uploaded on X (formerly Twitter), Karthik sat alongside the renowned voice of cricket, Harsha Bhogle in a short discussion about what went wrong with the Indian contingent. Bhogle started off the conversation by hailing Ravichandran Ashwin for his dismissal of Ben Stokes, using his traditional off-spinning delivery to clean up the stumps.

Bhogle would then point out the way England managed to steady themselves after losing 5 wickets for 163, thanks to the Ollie Pope masterclass which had put India in the back seat. He also blamed the Indian players for not putting enough pressure on England and creating chances of a comeback, labeling India’s attitude as “lethargic” before asking Dinesh Karthik if he felt the same.

“I was watching the game down as you were and i could not make out what the match position was. I just thought India just let it drift and maybe just a little lethargic. Did you get that impression?” Harsha Bhogle said.

By lethargic, Bhogle would have meant that the body language of the Indian players looked like as if they had accepted the defeat or would have taken England very lightly. Moreover, if the dropped catches of Ollie Pope were converted into a proper wicket then the Indians would not have suffered such a loss.

“Somewhere They Were Outplayed By England”, Dinesh Karthik In Response To Harsha Bhogle’s Lethargic Remarks

After Harsha Bhogle threw the ball to Dinesh Karthik’s court, the 38-year-old agreed to the former’s point of India showing some sort of lethargy in the field and claimed everyone that watched the 1st Test felt the same.

Karthik went on to blame the energy levels of the hosts during their fielding on day 3, claiming that India were marginally outplayed by their English counterparts and admitted that Rohit Sharma’s side did not have an appropriate answer to the questions Ben Stokes’ men asked.

“I think a lot of Indians who watched this Test match had got this impression. At the end of day 3, they were tired, they lacked body language. Somewhere, they had been outplayed at different points of the game but India actually didn’t have answers to a lot of the questions England have asked and that’s the truth,” said Karthik

“The intensity which is requied sometimes to push on those tough days, yesterday because of what England came up with, I think India didn’t have answers yesterday and it is the after effect is what we’re seeing today,” Dinesh Karthik concluded.
