In a major stance taken by the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board), it has decided not to extend the Non-objection Certificates (NOCs) of Pakistan players who are interested in playing in overseas T20 leagues, as per Cricket Pakistan.
A few Pakistan cricketers are currently playing in the ILT20 and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2024). The PCB has decided to stick to its stance despite the repeated pleas of Pakistan cricketers.
The ILT20 and the BPL are the two major leagues where the majority of the Pakistan cricketers feature. A few of them play in the Big Bash League in Australia as well.
PCB To Call Back National Players For PSL 9
Sources within the PCB reveal that several cricketers sought NOC extensions to capitalize on opportunities in these prominent leagues. However, after a review, the board has decided against giving an extension leaving a few prominent players in disappointment. The sudden refusal from the PCB has landed the players in trouble. Even players who are not currently a part of the national team have been called back.

Meanwhile, the players are allowed to participate in foreign until the start of the PSL. The Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) starts on February 17. However, the franchise owners are unhappy with the slow pace of work going on and are not sure whether the season will start on time.
A player has reportedly spoken to an official from the PCB expressing his concern. The PCB has asked players to be available for the PSL and thus has asked players to play until February 13. One other player is said to have managed the permission to play till February 16.
Pakistan are just fresh of their international season where they first played Pakistan and then New Zealand before the start of the ILT20. They were whitewashed against Australia 3-0 and also lost the T20I series against New Zealand.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Muhammad Nawaz, Haris Rauf, Usama Mir, Shadab Khan Aamer Jamal Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Hasnain, Ahmed Shehzad, and Shoaib Malik are some of the Pakistani players busy in the two leagues.
There are reports of a rift between the players and the management. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain and coach Misbah-Ul-Haq recently said that neither foreign nor local coaches want to work with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) due to its ‘haphazard’ policies.
“If you look at the policies of the board, leave alone foreign coaches I don’t think even our local coaches want to work with the PCB. Pakistan cricket should not be run in such a haphazard manner and we need to have long-term plans for the team management, selectors and grooming of players. Unfortunately in Pakistan a change in the board leadership changes everything,” he said.
“I believe you can’t make a good team or groom quality players if proper time is not given for this process. We need to look at the systems of some other countries who are successful,” he added.
