Ravi Shastri makes hilarious remarks on Ravindra Jadeja’s average in Rajkot, comparing to Sir Don Bradman

Former India cricketer, team director, and head coach Ravi Shastri made a hilarious comment on air while commentating in the India Vs England 3rd Test’s day 1 at the Niranjan Shah stadium. Shastri when speaking about the staggering average of Ravindra Jadeja at the venue in Rajkot, claimed that the late Australian legend Sir Don Bradman would be peeking from above after seeing the left-hand batter’s mad average of 135.

Ravindra Jadeja proved to be the ultimate point of difference for India in the 1st innings as his 204-run partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma helped steady India’s innings after a poor start. 2nd Test’s double centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to depart for just 10 runs off Mark Wood before the latter claimed Shubman Gill for a duck off 9 balls.

Jadeja departed soon on Day 2

Then number 4 batter Rajat Patidar who showed immense promise in the 2nd Test, got out for just 5 runs off Tom Hartley before Jadeja and Rohit took the charge in the middle. The latter eventually got out for 131 to become Mark Wood’s scalp but there was no stopping the home boy.

In his 3rd international Test match at the venue, Ravindra Jadeja smacked his 2nd full century but the one mistake he made over there was getting debutant Sarfaraz Khan run out for 62 but it did not negatively impact the Indian innings.

Soon after Sarfaraz’s departure, Jadeja reached his 4th Test ton. The 35-year-old before scoring his century, had an average of 135 in 17 Ranji Trophy matches in Saurashtra which included 4 centuries and 5 half-centuries with a splendid highest score of 331.

Ravindra Jadeja’s record over there intrigued Ravi Shastri to make a hilarious comment on former Australia great Sir Don Bradman watching over Jadeja’s impeccable average from heaven. Bradman had an average of 99.94 at the time of his retirement with 6996 from 52 senior matches.

“Look at that average. He could make even Don Bradman look from the above.” – Ravi Shastri stated on air via Jio Cinema.

Ravindra Jadeja departs for a soft dismissal after scoring 112

After scoring his 4th Test ton on day 1, Ravindra Jadeja received his marching orders from part-timer Joe Root through a soft caught and bowled dismissal. Jadeja got out for 112 off 225 deliveries which included 9 fours along with 2 sixes. He started day 2 alongside night watchman Kuldeep Yadav who was sent to bat yesterday.

Kuldeep was the first to depart on the 2nd day and became veteran English seamer James Anderson’s first scalp of the all-important 3rd Test. Debutant wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel is currently standing for a 57-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin as they aim to take India’s score beyond 400.

Jurel who is replacing KS Bharat in the playing XI, has displayed his quality right off and if all goes well, he will be able to match Sarfaraz Khan’s performance by scoring a fifty on debut. The 1st session remained very slow from India’s run-scoring perspective but Jurel and Ashwin will try to increase the run rate before the English bowling battery picks up a wicket through a series of bouncers.
