Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to get off the pitch after a back spasm troubled him on Day 3 of the 3rd IND vs ENG Test match.
Jaiswal slammed a brilliant century off 122 balls, which was his second 100-plus score of the series. However, the lefty batsman was not able to continue due to a niggle and walked off the pitch after getting retired hurt in the 44th over. As he was walking back to the dressing he received a standing ovation from his team and also, opposition head coach Brendon McCullum clapped for his brilliant knock.
Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a double century in the second Test and was the major reason behind India’s win. The left-handed opening batsman was removed cheaply for just 10 runs in the first innings, but he managed to stay composed and score 100 runs this time.

Ever since Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut for India, he has turned out to be a blessing for Rohit Sharma and Co. With his ability to take on the bowlers from the first ball and the left-handed advantage, it becomes difficult for bowlers to bowl against him. Also, Jaiswal gives his partner and Indian captain Rohit Sharma to play his shots and also gives the Indian team a stable opening start.
Getting back to the key highlights of Day 3, it was a terrible start for England as they lost two wickets in a matter of just 18 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav removed Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. Ben Duckett, the big fish, was also caught by Shubman Gill after Kuldeep got him for 153 runs. Ben Stokes, the English captain, played with flair and scored 41 runs to restore some momentum to the team’s innings.
Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, took four wickets to conclude the innings after destroying the England bottom order. While Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin finished the innings with one wicket apiece, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each.
With openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 30 runs for the first wicket, India got off to a respectable start. But Rohit, India’s top run scorer in the first innings, was dismissed by Joe Root for just 19 runs off of 28 balls. After Rohit’s departure, Yashasvi Jaiswal took the onus on himself and added 155 runs from 195 balls along with Shubman Gill for the second wicket before getting retired hurt. Gill has also scored a welcome half-century after being dismissed for a duck in the first innings.
India will now look forward to stretching their lead to a massive second-innings target for England. No team has won a match while chasing down the target in the series so far, and the hosts would look forward to repeating the same in the third Test. On the other hand, India would be playing without Ravichandran Ashwin, and the Indian bowlers will have extra responsibility and will not like to feel his absence.
On the other hand, England have also given tough competition to India in the series so far and would look forward to repeating the same in the 3rd Test.
